It’s #GivingTuesday, and with the biggest day of giving upon us, organizations around the globe are making the most of it and kicking off an amazing and productive season. Last week, we posted 6 helpful tips for a rewarding #GivingTuesday. While #GivingTuesday is a great way to gain visibility and raise funds, we know that it’s just the beginning of the giving season. After a successful #GivingTuesday, it’s important to keep the momentum going and take advantage of the excitement, exposure, and data you’ve acquired along the way. So, when #GivingTuesday is over, what comes next?

Show your appreciation.

Your donors have just shown you amazing generosity and commitment by donating to your cause and spreading the word about your mission. Let them know that their efforts are appreciated by sending out thank-you emails. We recommend at least 3 emails over the span of a few weeks – one immediately after they donate, and two more in the weeks that follow to further thank them and let them know the outcome of your fundraiser. This will show your donors that you’re truly appreciative of their generosity and will keep them involved and excited about your mission and the direct impact they had in making it happen.

Keep in touch.

#GivingTuesday is a great way to introduce new donors to your organization, as well as motivate existing donors to get re-engaged with your cause. Keep that interest and excitement going by staying in touch with your donors after #GivingTuesday is over. Your donors will be interested in the impact their gifts had on your overall mission — keep them apprised of your news and accomplishments through email and social media. The attention is on you; strike while the iron is hot and stay engaged with your community.

Analyze your results.

#GivingTuesday is an amazing way to gather valuable data about your organization. Keep track of the stats that come in during your #GivingTuesday campaign. What kind of outreach worked the best? Which channels converted the most traffic? Who was donating and how much were they donating? These insights will help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your campaign and where you can focus in the future for continued fundraising success.

Leverage for the rest of the giving season.

#GivingTuesday might be over, but the holiday season and end of the year are just getting started. You have the attention of your donors, so don’t waste too much time launching your next campaign. When re-engaging your donors, get creative. Since they just gave to your cause, try getting them involved in other ways: give them a social media template so they can spread the word about your cause to their networks, see if they’re interested in making a donation on behalf of someone else as an alternative gift, or ask them if they’d be willing to fundraise on your behalf for their birthday this year. Use the insight you gained during #GivingTuesday to get more engagement, ramp up fundraising goals, and figure out the best way to get your donors more involved. #GivingTuesday is an amazing opportunity to cultivate a community and drive action and engagement to your cause. Stay engaged with your donors in any way you can. If you have any questions about #GivingTuesday or fundraising in general, feel free to reach out!
